Seeking an Environmental Educator and Outdoor Adventure Leader: AmeriCorps Position

The Watersmith Guild is excited to announce a unique opportunity to join our team as an AmeriCorps Environmental Educator and Outdoor Adventure Leader for Summer 2026. This position is designed for someone who is passionate about connecting people to their local waterways, advancing environmental education, and creating meaningful outdoor experiences for underserved communities across Pennsylvania.

From leading hands-on watershed education programs to helping shape the stories that amplify our mission, this role offers a dynamic blend of teaching, adventure, and impact-driven work.

About the Role

The selected AmeriCorps member will play a vital role in delivering environmental education, supporting watershed conservation efforts, and facilitating outdoor adventure programming. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in both classroom and outdoor settings and is eager to inspire participants of all ages.

You’ll help deepen the impact of the Watersmith Guild’s mission by developing and leading engaging educational modules, contributing to outreach initiatives, and supporting partnerships that expand access to environmental learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership & Support

    • Assist and/or lead programs at sites throughout Pennsylvania

    • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments

    • Engage diverse audiences, including youth and adults

  • Content Creation & Storytelling

    • Develop and share content that elevates the Watersmith Guild’s mission

    • Contribute to blogs, social media, video, and photography

  • Partnership Development

    • Build and strengthen partnerships that support environmental education and conservation goals

  • Logistics & Project Coordination

    • Assist with program logistics and project management

    • Support volunteer recruitment, communications, and data organization

  • Impact Tracking & Reporting

    • Help create and manage reports based on workshops, surveys, and program outcomes

Position Details

  • Term: 300 hours

  • Dates: May 22, 2026 – August 2, 2026

  • Compensation:

    • Bi-weekly living stipend: $955.00

    • Segal Education Award: $1,565.08
